OMG! Elderly Grandpa Commits Suicide in Anambra State

The unnamed elderly man hanged himself in Anambra State 

An old man for reasons yet to be known has killed himself in a community in Anambra State.

The report was shared on Facebook by Comr Eze Harris Chuma, who stated that the old man killed himself because of the suffering and hardship he has been undergoing.


Chuma said: "For quite some time now, it has been Suicide. Suicide. Suicide. Tuffiakwa !! "This is what plays out in Anambra my darling state. "So much anguish and pains, one wonders what is the government of the day doing to alleviate the pains of the aged? What is the structure in place to promote and ensure quality welfare package for the senior citizens?"

According to him, the government must take a bold step to arrest the situation before it becomes too late.

"What is the connect[ion] between the government and the elderly in our society? "Why in this time and age an old man would hang himself to register disappointment and frustrated living? "Why would this man end up this way? What went wrong and why toe this dishonourable path?

"Government should look into the plights of the elderly in the state.. This is becoming a norm. Suicide. Suicide. Suicide.

"The Ajile Mopol Governor should sit up and arrest this ugly trend in Anambra." Chuma lamented.

I wonder what manner of suffering would make an old man that is already nearing his grave to take his life before his time. 
I don't mean to sound archaic and fetish, but most times, aside from being a mental illness, suicides can be hereditary.  It is an abomination in Igbo land that is believed to pass from generation to generation in a particular lineage until the gods are appeased and the curse broken.   
What a shameful way to die!
