Ogazi (Guinea Fowl)
The Igbos in the south east geopolitical zone of Nigeria would say ''Ogazi amaka, mana eji ya ago nmoh - meaning (Guinea Fowl is so beautiful but cannot be used for libation).
Have you ever wondered why this is so?
A cock or hen is most preferred for making sacrifices or libations. Some Christians may claim that libation and or sacrifices of such nature are fetish.
So I asked, during harvest and thanks giving in most African churches, specially Nigeria, the guinea fowl is never never used. why?
Christians prefer to use, cocks, hens and cattle for the occasion.
However, the guinea fowl is reputed to be a better meat than their chicken counter parts.
Do you know why the guinea fowl is hardly used for sacrifice?
